Plumbers and Pipefitters typically layout, assemble, install, and repair pipelines or pipe systems that carry water, steam, air or other liquids or gases for industrial production and process systems. As a Plumber or a Pipefitter, you'll apply your pipe system knowledge and blueprint reading capability to select pipe size and type. You'll also select other related equipment and materials such as pipe supports, hangars, and support systems according to required specifications. You will study building plans and working drawings to better understand how the whole system fits together. You will bend pipe by hand, tools, or machinery.
